The Platypus Gallery is a special attraction in Forbes for visitors and locals alike. You cannot come to look at Forbes’ fine historic buildings and miss visiting the Platypus Gallery. It is located within close proximity to all of the town’s finest buildings and the building itself has had a long history as a pharmacy and before that a saddler stood on the site from the gold rush time.
The Platypus Gallery exhibits members’ work but from time to time there are exhibitions from visiting artists particularly during October each year. The exhibited works vary greatly from paintings and drawings in all media, sculpture, ceramics, fine wood turning and photography. Most works are for sale. The display in the Gallery is changed about six times a year.
