This Program commenced in 2002 to contribute to planning a major museum development in Lightning Ridge. The Advisor, Richard Wesley, has provided advice to Council resulting in a commitment to 3 year funding for the museum project and is currently assisting with planning building and design briefs for the new museum building as well as the historical society’s museum sites.

 

 During 2009 further work was undertaken on the Walgett historical society’s website including the development of an online shop to sell the museum’s various publications. The major project of 2009 has been the upgrade of the Walgett museum’s storage areas and the refurbishment of the museum.

 

Richard has recently undertaken an assessment of the collections across the shire and provided workshops on collection management and preventive conservation.
