Rachael Vincent has worked in museums as a Social History Curator for over 10 years. Most recently, as Community History Curator for the new Museum of Bristol in the South West of England. Prior to that she was Project Curator for Glasgow’s Kelvingrove New Century Project, a large-scale redisplay of Scotland’s largest civic museum and art gallery. Rachael’s professional interests focus on contemporary collecting and interpretation at the regional history museum.

In 2008, Rachael left the UK to further develop her career and began a PhD in Museum Studies and Human Geography at Sydney’s Macquarie University. Her research, based at the Museum of the Riverina in Wagga Wagga NSW, explores contemporary collecting and interpretation – how and what history museums can collect for the future. This is a great opportunity to explore innovative ways to ‘make history’ and deepen one’s sense of local identity.

Since last November, Rachael has worked part time at the Museum of the Riverina as Regional Museum Officer, working collaboratively with museums in the region to develop strategic programs to assist in the interpretation, documentation and conservation of their collections.
