Meg Larkin is a consultant specialising in cultural and community planning. She has wide ranging interests in regional arts and cultural development, and is a Director of a number of cultural organisations, including Regional Arts NSW, which she chairs, Regional Arts Australia, Arts North West and the Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music. Meg has very recently been elected as Interim Chairman of the newly formed Board of the New England Regional Art Museum, Armidale.

                                                                  

The construction of the Tamworth Regional Gallery and Library was a major project undertaken by Tamworth City Council between 2000 and 2004.  As Council’s Cultural and Community Services Manager at that time, Meg was Council’s representative on the team that designed and constructed the new building and was involved in the process from beginning to opening and the following early years of operation.

 

Meg’s paper will focus on design processes and considerations for this highly successful and extremely well used regional powerful place.
