IMAGinE Awards 2011

In partnership with Museums Australia (NSW), Regional Public Galleries Association of NSW and Museums Australia (ACT), Museums & Galleries NSW are pleased to announce the 2011 IMAGinE Awards . The Awards cover exhibitions, programs and projects that primarily occurred in the period 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011.

The 2011 IMAGinE Awards night was held in the Australian Museum on Friday 30 September 2011.
The Awards are an excellent opportunity to highlight achievements to the broad community, the NSW & ACT paid and volunteer workforce and the wider museum and gallery sector.
Established in 2008, the IMAGinE Awards celebrate the achievements and extraordinary diversity of the NSW and ACT museum and gallery sector and those who work within it, both paid and volunteer.
The IMAGinE awards exists to :
- Celebrate excellence across all levels of the museum and gallery sector
- Acknowledge the significant contribution that individuals make to their communities through museums and galleries across NSW and the ACT
- Promote the value and importance of museums and galleries beyond the sector
- Promote and benchmark best practice in collection management, exhibitions and public programs
- Forge networks and links between the paid and volunteer staff of museums and galleries
Projects eligible for nomination included:
- Special collection management projects, including the development of new policies and procedures or upgrading/building of a new storage facility
- Outstanding exhibitions with a strong curatorial rationale that engage new audiences
- Strategic and innovative public programs that achieve excellent results
- Unique collaborative projects that demonstrate leadership in museum and gallery practice in NSW & ACT
