Fellowship & Mentorships Cultural Exchange
13 / 02 / 2012 – 13 / 02 / 2012
M&G NSW invites you to a special presentation by the 2011 Fellowship & Mentorship recipients. Last year six people from museums and galleries across NSW engaged in a two week professional development exchange with reputable institutions in Australia and overseas.
Join us to hear about their experiences and the many important insights and professional connections they made while embedded at their host institution. Shannon Maguire will speak about her observations of the presentation and interpretation of Singaporean social and cultural history at the National Museum of Singapore and the Asian Civilisations Museum, and the impact of this experience has had on her work at the Sydney Jewish Museum. Julie Petersen from Mosman Art Gallery will discuss how her placement at the National Gallery of Victoria gave her a greater appreciation of the importance of documenting collections and the role of curators in promoting, writing and researching items in their care.
Four other recipients will outline the highlights of their placements and tell of how their experiences with their host institutions has given them fresh insight into the opportunities available to their museum or gallery.
Come and hear first-hand the benefits of participating in the program. This presentation is a free event and a chance for interested and prospective 2012 Fellowship & Mentorship applicants to find out more about the application process.
When: 2pm – 4.30pm, Monday 13 February
