This program commenced in 2006. Advisor Shar Jones is working with the Blue Mountains City Council to develop closer links and strategic partnership between diverse cultural heritage collections, places and displays across the mountains, including the Blue Mountains Association of Cultural Heritage Organisations, Blue Mountains Local Studies Library, Blue Mountains Historical Society, Mount Victoria and District Historical Society, Springwood Historical Society, Glenbrook & District Historical Society, Mt Wilson & Mt Irvine Historical Society, National Trust of Australia properties in the Blue Mountains, Valley Heights Locomotive Depot Heritage Museum, NPWS Blackheath Visitor Centre, Bygone Beauties and others.

During 2009 Shar provided workshops in marketing media, developing partnerships, design of brochures and using web based matrices. An initial meeting was held with the council’s Aboriginal Liaison Officer to discuss an approach to the preservation and interpretation of living Aboriginal culture. Council has provided computers to a number of museums in the local government area which has enabled the museums to develop a web presence.

The program is currently focused on enhancing communication between the groups, raising operational standards, raising community awareness of available collections and recruitment of volunteers.
