M&G NSW weekly
email bulletin:
This Program commenced in early 2004 to provide strategic advice to Council on the sustainable development of collections and museums in the region. The Advisor, Shar Jones, is working with the volunteer-managed museums in the Blacktown local government area to raise operational standards through mentoring and support of exhibition development. She has contributed to Council’s cultural and heritage policy development and to heritage education in the area.
In 2008 Shar formed a partnership between the Blacktown City Council, the NSW Migration Heritage Centre and the Blacktown Migrant Resource Centre to undertake an oral history project with the Blacktown’s Sudanese community. This will culminate in an exhibition in the Blacktown Visitor Centre next International Refugee Week and an internet exhibition on the Migration Heritage Website.
