Vital support for regional touring

Artwork Transport, one of Australia’s leading arts transportation companies, pledges support for regional touring.

As many of you are aware, M&G NSW runs the largest regional touring program in NSW, and as the state representative of the National Exhibitions Touring Support (NETS) Australia network, we’re committed to touring contemporary visual arts to regional, remote and metropolitan communities throughout NSW and Australia.

The recent changes to Commonwealth arts funding has thrown into jeopardy NETS’s ability to deliver over 100 planned tours to regional and remote audiences from 2016 onwards. Potentially, this represents a significant cultural loss for the 590,000 people who visit these shows each year.

Now, thanks to a three year partnership with Artwork Transport, we are able to restore stability to the touring program and ensure that our services are maintained at the highest level.

Michael Rolfe, M&G CEO, acknowledged the importance of Artwork Transport’s support at this time:

“Artwork Transport recognises the value and importance of regional touring in the entire arts and cultural ecology but, most importantly ensuring those living in regional Australia have equal access to quality cultural programming. This timely investment will allow M&G to weather the cultural funding storm and continue to present the very best contemporary art to the regions.”

Terry Fahey, Artwork Transport’s Managing Director, confirms:

“Our extensive experience with transportation of regional and national touring exhibitions, combined with our long term investment in staff and a highly specialised fleet of vehicles ensures Artwork Transport is well positioned in these challenging times to provide certainty for the delivery of exhibitions to regional and remote audiences throughout Australia in the months and years ahead. Our partnership with M&G NSW will we hope contribute significantly to ensuring that regional NSW and other states continue to enjoy access to the highest quality and diverse cultural programs available.”
