This document provides a practical guide to Volunteer Succession Planning. Succession Planning is about planning appropriate action when a person who currently holds a key position in your museum moves on or is no longer available. Succession planning is also about retaining your current volunteers, and engaging fresh new faces.
In order to address the issues associated with volunteer succession planning, it is important to conduct a skills audit to document what skills your organisation currently has at its disposal and what skills it needs to acquire. This fact sheet provides you with the tools necessary to conduct a skills audit of your volunteers.
