The economic and social contribution of cultural facilities and activities in Central NSW.

 

M&G NSW’s research into the economic and social contribution of council run museums, galleries and theatres in Central NSW was launched on Tuesday 22 June 2010 by Bathurst Mayor, Cr Paul Toole at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery.

 

Undertaken in partnership with, Orange City Council, Bathurst Regional Council and Dubbo City Council, the research for the first time reveals in hard figures the positive contribution to the local and regional communities and their economies made by the council operated facilities.

 

The findings include their contribution to the regional gross product ( $14 million), the strong economic and social benefits of volunteers and the creation of jobs outside the cultural sector.
