The Collection Documentation and Significance Assessment Grants is a new initiative commencing in 2013 to enable community museums and keeping places to bring in specialists to work with volunteers on documentation and or significance assessment of objects and collections. Core projects include identifying significant objects, writing significance statements, cataloguing objects, digitally photographing objects and entering collection information into a database.
The Volunteer Initiated Museums (VIM) Grant Program provides assistance to volunteer initiated community museums in NSW. Administered by M&G NSW with devolved funds from Arts NSW on behalf of the NSW Government, the program is designed to provide volunteer managed museums with funding for projects addressing skill development, operational planning and forward planning.
The new Curatorial Support Initiative (CSI) grants scheme offers New South Wales regional public galleries assistance towards engaging a professional curator (emerging or established) to research and/or develop a new exhibition of contemporary visual arts, craft and design for their community.
The new Artist & Curator In-Residence Program (ACR) offers the opportunity for regional public galleries to engage established artists or curators to undertake a residency activity within their community. The ACR program is financed by funds devolved from the Copyright Agency Limited and managed by M&G NSW.
The Fellowship, Mentorship and Placement Program provides opportunities for museum and gallery staff and volunteers located in regional and remote areas to experience working in a major urban institution.
If you are a museum, gallery or Aboriginal cultural centre in NSW and would like more information on where to find funding please download our Grants and Funding 2013 booklet.
