 Life in Your Hands

 

Curated by Robyn Daw and organised by Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery, Life in Your Hands features the work of 10 contemporary artists and craft/design practitioners that explore the notion of ‘solastalgia’ - the impact of environmental stresses, loss of connection to past, and economic and political change on the mental wellbeing of communities. 

 

Through this concept, the Life in Your Hands  exhibtion addresses issues such as drought, living under Sydney’s flight paths, the environmental stress of the barrier reef, the lasting issues surrounding the stolen generations, and the effect of ‘ghost nets’ in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
