Mike Parr is widely regarded as one of the most groundbreaking artists working in Australia today. Utilising a variety of media including performance, installation, printmaking, photography and drawing, Parr has created a vast body of work with a sustained focus on self-portraiture and dealing explicitly with political content.

Operating in parallel to Parr’s temporal and public performative events is his ongoing engagement with creating drawings and prints; a lesser known side of his work in the public context these now number in the thousands. This consistent element in his practice considers perception, memory and the identity of the individual in the context of society.

Curated by Katie Dyer of the National Art School Gallery, Mike Parr: Brain Coral will offer a selection of the artist’s drawings and prints, providing a unique insight into this rarely seen side of his artistic practice.
