Excessory: Contemporary Australian Jewellery

Excessory brings together the work of six contemporary Australian jewellery artists who explore the transformation of commonplace, low-value and found materials into precious objects. The artists are united by a common interest in handmade techniques, lengthy processes and the value created by an artist’s labour and creativity rather than the inherent commercial value of the materials.

2009 Parliament of NSW Aboriginal Art Prize

The 2009 Parliament of NSW Aboriginal Art Prize is presented as a partnership between NSW Parliament House and Campbelltown Arts Centre and is toured by Museums & Galleries NSW. The Parliament of NSW Aboriginal Art Prize has been developed in partnership between the Parliament of New South Wales and Campbelltown Arts Centre, and receives support from Arts NSW. The Prize recognises the great wealth of artistic excellence in NSW Aboriginal communities, and the exhibition also awards the COFA Professional Development Award, supported by the University of NSW. The exhibition continues from strength to strength with entries and audience attendance increasing each year.

Momentum: 18th Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennial

From the early 1970s the Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennial, managed by Tamworth Regional Gallery, has provided audiences with an exciting and vibrant survey exhibition of contemporary fibre textiles. It is recognised as Australia’s pre-eminent textile related exhibition and includes works from across the nation. For Momentum, the 18th Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennial, curator Valerie Kirk has put together an exhibition that looks at the influences new technologies have had on traditional fibre textile practice and how artists have combined their individual practice to incorporate new techniques.
